A Story Through Postcards
I grew up in Zagreb, but my heart has always been in Karlobag – the town where my father comes from. Over the years, I've been spending more and more time in Karlobag, and I can say that it is simply my town, a place with a special atmosphere and a rich history that I want to preserve.
My passion for Karlobag developed through collecting postcards. So far, I have gathered more than 240 postcards, dating from the period of 1900 to the present day. Through them, I feel like I'm traveling through time, observing how the place has changed, how the lives and daily routines of people have evolved, and discovering the stories that make Karlobag unique.
Collecting postcards is not always easy. Karlobag is a small place, not so well-known touristically, and today it is rare to find old postcards or photographs. This is precisely why I view my hobby as a mission—to preserve the cultural heritage and memories of the town's past. Every postcard I collect helps to record and save images of Karlobag as it once was, for future generations and everyone who wishes to learn about its history.
Through this project, I want to share the beauty and stories of Karlobag, so that people can see and feel the spirit of the place through the years and the memories hidden in each of these small pieces of paper. For me, Karlobag is not just a town – it is a home, an inspiration, and a connection to the past that I want to cherish.
